For example, we will always turn away a client if we feel they should see a dentist before a tooth gem service, or if there are skin sensitivities that may interfere with permanent jewelry placement.Our goal is to provide you with beautiful, lasting adornments—whether that’s a seamless clasp-free bracelet or a radiant sparkle for your smile—without compromising your health. Permanent Jewelry FAQ's

  • What is permanent jewelry?
    Permanent jewelry is a claspless piece of jewelry that can be applied to many areas of the body including but not limited to: neck, wrists, fingers, toes, and ankles.

  • How does permanent jewelry work?
    Permanent Jewelry is applied with a welding machine which is specifically created for fragile metals. After the client has been sized for the appropriate amount of slack, the spark welds together a jump ring that replaces the need for a clasp (clasp-less jewelry).

  • Does it hurt?
    Not at all! Permanent Jewelry does not cause any harm and should never be painful to you or us. You will not feel a thing as we are working with the metal - not your skin! There is absolutely no risk to you as the welder will only react to metal.

  • Can it be removed?
    The chains applied during this process are strong enough to last, but not to the point that injury will incur in the event that it gets caught on something. If pieces need to be removed, they can be snipped at the weld site with a pair of scissors or nail clippers. The jewelry can always be re-welded.

  • Does it require maintenance?
    Permanent jewelry can undergo years of wear without needing to be removed for professional cleaning. However, to maintain the integrity of the link aftercare is recommended.

  • Will it last forever?
    Permanent jewelry will stand the test of time and is designed for consistent everyday wear. Although, it is not invincible - it is still fine, dainty jewelry. Negligence, chemical exposure, continuous snags, and improper welds can cause issues such as breaks or tarnishing with your jewelry.

  • How can I start my own permanent jewelry business?

Tooth Gem FAQ's

  • Who makes a good candidate for tooth gems?
    Most people are great candidates! However, some clients may need to seek professional dental care before getting tooth gems or teeth whitening. At Forever enTWINed, we always prioritize your health and will kindly refer you to a dentist if we feel it’s necessary.
    Good candidates will:
    *Have healthy gums (no bleeding or puffiness)
    *Be clear from cold sores/HSV outbreaks
    *Be at least 2–3 weeks out from lip filler injections
    *Have strong, healthy enamel
    *Have no open wounds or recent dental surgeries
    *Be free from plaque or decay
    If you’re unsure about your eligibility, always consult your dentist first.

  • How long is the appointment?
    Appointments are booked for one hour. Each gem takes about 10–15 minutes to apply, so multiple gems can be added within your time slot. For a single crystal, you’ll typically be in and out in about 20 minutes!

  • Does it hurt?
    Not at all! Tooth gems are completely safe and painless when applied properly. With sanitary application and care, there is little to no risk involved.

  • Can tooth gems be removed?
    Yes, but only by a licensed dentist or dental professional. Gems usually fall off naturally with the adhesive still attached, but if you’d like them removed sooner, your dentist can do so safely without harming your enamel.

  • Can I get a gem if I have veneers, fillings, or composites?
    Unfortunately, no. Tooth gem adhesive only bonds to natural enamel, not to veneers, fillings, or partial composites.

  • Can I whiten my teeth with gems on?
    Yes! Professional in-office cosmetic whitening can be safely done with gems in place. However, we don’t recommend whitening strips or trays, as they can weaken gem retention and be harsh on your enamel.

Caring instructions

Permanent Jewelry

For Permanent Jewelry aftercare you should be washing thoroughly with a gentle soap cleanser, completely rinsing the piece, and making sure it is dried fully. Your jewelry should be cleaned as frequently as once a week to as little as once every few months. This ratio depends on your lifestyle. Please note that sterling silver jewelry is just like a silver spoon. Leaving this material in stagnant air will cause it to tarnish. Your sterling silver should be touched, rolled, and moved around at least 2 times a week to avoid possible tarnishing. The chemical makeup of our skin will help the jewelry maintain a bright shiny silver look.

Tooth Gems

After your tooth gem is applied, it’s important to follow a few simple steps to ensure it lasts. Avoid eating for the first hour, and stick to soft foods for the next 24 hours while steering clear of hard or crunchy snacks like apples, carrots, chips, or candy. During this time, you’ll also want to avoid hot or acidic drinks—such as coffee, soup, wine, orange juice, dark soda, or energy drinks—as heat and acidity can weaken the adhesive in the first day. Do not brush your teeth for 24 hours, and when you resume, use gentle, soft brushing around the gem.Tooth gems are semi-permanent and will usually fall off naturally with the adhesive attached. If you’d like your gem removed sooner, or if adhesive remains after the gem comes off, it’s important to have removal done by a licensed dental professional to ensure your enamel is protected.
